About the Drone Cinematography Boot Camp

Participants will learn drone cinematography and photography flight techniques at various locations in and around Palm Springs, CA. The training is provided by Hollywood Drones, a leader in drone cinematography education.

  • Drone cinematography & photography flight techniques

Boot Camp Location:

The classroom portion of the Drone Cinematography Boot Camp will be held at the Miracle Springs Resort & Spa, Hot Springs, CA. The Boot Camp will have a block of rooms available at the resort for attendees. However, attendees may stay at another location of their choice. Attendees staying at the resort will have access to discounts for the onsite spa, restaurants, etc.,

UAS/AAM Documentary Filming:

The film crew for the UAS/AAM documentary are scheduled to be onsite during the boot camp. They will capture footage of boot camp activities and interviews.

Pilot Requirements:

  • Part 107 preferred but not required.
  • The FAA Recreational UAS Safety Test (TRUST) is required for all non-Part 107 participants.
  • All pilots must be skilled at flying a drone.
  • Participants must be fully vaccinated as defined by the CDC.
  • Must participate in both days of the boot camp.
  • Pilots must bring their own drone.
  • Pilots are required to have drone liability insurance covering both days of the boot camp.
  • Must bring a laptop to download footage captured during your flights.
  • Must wear closed toe shoes. Hat with bill or a wide brim hat highly recommended.
  • No guests. Only approved, registered participants are permitted to attend.

Drone and Accessory Requirements

  • Rotary drones are required.
  • Drone must have camera & collision lights.
  • Must bring at least 2 SD cards.
  • Bring extra batteries.
  • On the first day of boot camp must present proof of drone liability insurance covering both days.
  • During the application process the following items must be submitted:
    • FAA Part 107 or FAA Trust Certificate.
    • FAA drone registry card showing registry number and drone serial number.

NOTE: We will host live Q&A Zoom sessions with our host Skip Fredricks to answer your questions and help you prepare for the Drone Cinematography Boot Camp.
