Shaping Autonomy: Advancing the Field Through New Collaborations

This talk will include 3 main sections:

Introduction: starting with a review of the Shaping Autonomy project and why its mission matters to the field of autonomous systems and the industry’s future. Shaping Autonomy is a one-of-a-kind project bridging the industry-academia gap with the mission to accelerate collective progress toward advancing autonomy by identifying the most important obstacles and empowering the autonomous systems research and engineering community to work on solutions that go beyond a single lab or a single team.
Benefits, outcomes, & next steps: The main goal of Shaping Autonomy will be to initiate collaborative spaces to enable a new generation of cross-institutional collaborations for research and technology development. Accordingly, we talk about the milestones for starting the collaborative projects to work on possible solutions. We will review the benefits of participation to organizations in both the industry and academia and will end the presentation by talking about how organizations working on robotics and autonomous systems solutions can further get involved, engage with the research and engineering community, and support the projects for the future of the field.
