October 4, 2022 – P3 Tech Consulting and MJN Associates, creators of several popular tech podcasts, are pleased to announce the launch of a new technology-focused legal podcast called TechTalk with Akin Gump, in collaboration with the technology practice at Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP, an international law firm consistently ranked as one of the top law firms in the United States.
TechTalk with Akin Gump aims to be the ultimate information source on the hottest trends at the intersection of technology and the law, including autonomous systems and advanced mobility, artificial intelligence, cryptocurrency, blockchain and digital assets, and more. Dawn Zoldi, P3 Tech’s CEO and Founder, a 28-year US Air Force vet and licensed attorney, will host the show, and Michael Pehel, the former Chair of InterDrone, will produce it. This is the same team that produces The Dawn of Drones (presented by DroneLife), and the Full Crew and Full TILT (Tech Industry Leadership Talks) podcasts.
Each 45-minute episode will feature Zoldi in conversation with an attorney from Akin Gump’s technology practice and an industry leader from cutting-edge technology companies. The trios will discuss various emerging technologies and the latest legal, regulatory and policy updates that impact technology companies. The show will stream across multiple social media platforms including Akin Gump’s YouTube channel.
The first TechTalk with Akin Gump episode will air on Thursday, October 13th, at 9 am MT / 11 am ET, featuring a discussion on autonomous vehicles (AVs) with Akin Gump partner Susan Lent, who heads the infrastructure and transportation practice and is one of the leaders of the firm’s cross-practice autonomous systems and advanced mobility team. Greg Rogers, head of Public Affairs at Nuro, a robotics company focused on unlocking the benefits of autonomous vehicles for everyday life. Nuro’s on-road fleet is made up of three autonomous vehicles that deploy autonomous delivery services at scale.
Akin Gump Partner Jennifer Richter, who leads the firm’s communications and information technology practice and another leader of the firm’s autonomous systems and advanced mobility team, provided insight into why the firm decided to launch this podcast. “We know that new technologies are advancing at a pace that outstrips the ability of regulators and legislators to address them,” Richter explained. “We wanted to showcase how our award-winning cross-disciplinary technology team – which leverages insights and capabilities from various practices and offices – successfully tackles the hurdles in this uncharted space innovatively, together with the clients whose businesses we advance,” she said.
Richter continued, “I worked with Dawn on her one-day Law-Tech Connect Workshop at the Association for Uncrewed Vehicle Systems International (AUVSI) Xponential last year. Mike also produced that event. I was so impressed with their professionalism and the quality of the content at the intersection of technology and the law, that I reached out to see how we could partner. And so, TechTalk with Akin Gump was born!”
Akin Gump is a proud sponsor of the Law-Tech Connect Workshop, which will continue in 2023 at both Xponential (Denver, May 8th) and the Energy Drone & Robotics Coalition Summit (Houston, Jun 12th). This summer, Richter also appeared as a guest on Zoldi and Pehel’s Full TILT (LINK) and Full Crew podcasts.
“TechTalk with Akin Gump presents a perfect fit in our expanding continuum of content,” noted Pehel. “We focus on showcasing emerging tech company profiles, leadership and news in addition to related state, federal and international laws, regulations and policies.”
Zoldi added, “We are excited and thankful that this award-winning law firm has given us the opportunity to work with its amazing legal experts and advanced tech industry professionals, to explore the global techno-legal issues that affect us all.”
