Drone industry organizations collaborate to support STEM education
Women And Drones has partnered with GoDrones Group to put on a free, one-day virtual conference targeted toward middle and high school educators who are interested in teaching students about drones. The nationwide conference on November 14th will feature speakers and panelists in the morning and an afternoon of breakout sessions where educators can choose specific topics.
According to Dr. Kenneth Berry who helped create the event, “Drones are changing our world. Educators have noticed and are searching for ways to help their students keep up with innovation in the industry. That is why we organized the Drones in the Classroom Conference.” He says the purpose of this conference is to support the identification and adoption of best practices, support exciting interscholastic events and promote meaningful curriculum around UAS throughout the US.
Equipping educators with the knowledge and comfort level to include drones in their curriculum is an important objective of Women and Drones. Drones provide teachers with a hands-on tool to interest students in the subjects of science, technology, engineering, and math.
“We are excited about the opportunity to partner with the GoDrones Group. Their mission and programming aligns with our mission to support fueling the STEM pipeline by introducing drones into the classroom” said Women And Drones CEO, Sharon Rossmark.
This conference is for teachers, administrators, drone developers, curriculum developers, drone trainers, and students. The purpose is to share classroom best practices, industry growth, future jobs, FAA regulations, safety, interscholastic competitions, curriculum, and training opportunities with drones.
Other partners include Hub88, DroneBlocks, OnPoynt and SMU Lyle School of Engineering.
